The Nonesuch has received many grants and awards in recent years, for specific outreach projects such as visiting the Putney Hospital for Neurodisability to give a concert and also to play chamber music on the wards for those patients unable to get to the main concert, and also to support more generally the orchestra’s work in schools. Grants have often been used to fund a post-graduate student to play with the orchestra; this benefits everyone as it both enhances the orchestra and also gives the student the experience of working with children and as a soloist.
